The hosts elected to bat first after winning the toss and managed to put up 262/9 after a 43-run blitz from tail-ender Chamika Karunaratne saved their face. India lit up the stadium from the start as Prithvi Shaw scored a sizzling 43 off just 24 deliveries. Ishan Kishan continued the momentum and secured a half-century on his ODI debut before falling to Lakshan Sandakan.
