One day, whilst Mike is away at an auction with Miss Marple, his love, Ellie, is thrown from her horse and dies. A devastated Mike must go to New York to sort out Ellie's estate. Whilst he is away, two more mysterious deaths occur.

While staying with a recently widowed friend, Miss Marple bonds with the handsome chauffeur, Mike Rogers. His eyes are set on Gypsy's Acre - an ideal place to build a home. He meets Ellie, falls in love, the two tie a knot in a secret ceremony, and build their home in the allegedly cursed Gypsy's Acre. Soon after, Mike loses his beloved wife. When he heads to New York to sort out Ellie's estate, more deaths follow. Mike returns to Gypsy's Acre despite the evil which seems to surround it.
