Much to his dislike, Hercule Poirot is approached by Mrs. Todd, to find the whereabouts of her missing cook, Eliza. Although Poirot believes that the case is way below his standards, then on second thoughts, he believes that it might turn out to be an intriguing one, and so, he takes it up. Mrs. Todd explains to him that Eliza has not come back to work till Friday, after taking an evening off on Wednesday.
