Gopal Bhar was a legendary court jester in medieval Bengal, serving Raja Krishnachandra of Nadia in the 18th century. So gifted was he that the king counted him among the court's Navaratna. His statue still stands in the palace, and stories of his exploits are told in Bengal to this day.
