Gopal Bhar was a legendary court jester in medieval Bengal, serving Raja Krishnachandra of Nadia in the 18th century. The king valued him as a Navaratna, and his statue still stands in the palace. Tales of Gopal Bhar's exploits are told in Bengal to this day and appear in many short stories.
