Gopal Bhar was a legendary court jester in medieval Bengal, serving Raja Krishnachandra of Nadia in the 18th century AD. So valued was his wit that the King counted him among the Navaratna of his court. His statue remains in the palace, and his exploits are still told in Bengal today.
