Gopal Bhar was a legendary court jester in medieval Bengal. In the 18th century, Raja Krishnachandra of Nadia valued him as a court Navaratna, and his statue still stands in the palace. Tales of Gopal Bhar's exploits are still told in Bengal and live on in many short stories.
