Gopal Bhar was a legendary court jester in medieval Bengal, serving in the court of Raja Krishnachandra, the 18th-century king of Nadia. The king valued him as a Navaratna, and his statue still stands in Raja Krishnachandra's palace. Stories of his exploits are still told in Bengal and preserved in many short stories.
