Realizing his presence places the Parros twins in greater danger, Guin separates from them, sneaking them onto a pirate ship so they can escape Mongaul with greater ease. Lady Amnelis, falling deeper under the infuriating but captivating spell of Duke Norisse, finds herself in the center of the weapon that all of Mongaul would kill for.
