As Mongaul and Kaulos suffer setbacks from their battles, Duke Norisse takes advantage of the unrest--and Remus's growing confidence--to plot a sly intervention. But Guin grows suspicious of Norisse's motives, as well as Remus's intent to go along. Meanwhile, the evil sorceress Anak arrives to destroy Guin.
