The tribals take Karn and his family to their chief. Karn pleads for his mother's life, but the chief refuses. Shanidev asks Suryadev about Karn's troubles, and Suryadev says Karn will overcome them. Later, a sage tells Karn how to save his dying mother, but he must first escape the tribals.
