The Good Doctor

36 Hours

Following Glassman's brain surgery, Shaun spends the night at the hospital, where he and the other residents learn of a scheduling mix up, that will require two of them to work a thirty-six-hour shift. Taking a break from assisting Melendez in treating Gina Porter's infertility, Claire complains to Andrew about the gruelling schedule.

When Andrew disagrees and Claire re-joins the team, she finds that Gina's endometrial lesions have spread. As the surgery exposes tensions that prompt nurse Ann Flores to weigh in on how Melendez treats women in his staff, Gina's worsening condition forces them to consider removing her bladder. When Claire suggests reconstructing it instead, Melendez sends her to get her husband, Daniel's, consent. But when the procedure uncovers more problems, Melendez says they will have to do a hysterectomy. However, when Claire returns to get Daniel's permission for a procedure that will make it impossible for he and his wife to ever have children, he refuses to take responsibility, telling the doctors do what they think is best.
