Defending champion and No.4 seed Sofia Kenin enjoyed a straight-sets win in her first-round match, defeating Australian wildcard entry Maddison Inglis 7-5, 6-4. The American did not have it easy despite winning in straight sets and was made to put in a lot of hard work with Inglis pushing her to the limit.
