After a strong end to Day 1, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul carried forward the momentum to form a solid 97-run partnership in challenging batting conditions. However, an instinctive pull shot by Rohit Sharma, just 3 balls before the lunch break, landed the ball straight into Sam Curran's hands for India's first wicket. England capitalized post-lunch as Anderson got rid of both Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli in back-to-back deliveries before Ajinkya Rahane fell victim to a disappointing run-out. KL Rahul held his end of the wicket and completed his half-century to fight for his contention in the eleven.
