India won the toss and elected to bat first, with Prithvi Shaw's 49 and Sanju Samson's 46 giving the team a solid start. However, Akila Dananjaya and Praveen Jayawickrama brought the Lankans back in the game, picking up 3 wickets each and restricting India to just 225 runs in a rain-affected match.
