England fought back and owned the entire day as Ollie Pope and Captain Joe Root scored centuries. Ollie Pope recorded his highest Test runs with 145 runs, while Root scored back-to-back centuries. The hosts are now just 80 runs behind as they put on 383 runs for the loss of four wickets on Day 3. Stokes played a brilliant cameo but was cut short soon by Bracewell.
