Jose Mourinho's Roma did not hold back on matchday 1 of the UEFA Conference League as they defeated CSKA-Sofia 5-1 at the Stadio Olimpico. The hosts initially went down to an early goal from Graham Carey, but goals from Lorenzo Pellegrini and Stephan El Shaarawy saw them leading at the break. Pellegrini scored another in the 62nd minute to give Roma a two-goal lead, and things got better for the hosts after Yanic Wildschut was sent off. This made things a lot easier for the hosts as they managed to score two more, with Gianluca Mancini and Tammy Abraham getting on the scoresheet.
