The six new Athletes land in East Africa for the first leg of their year-long, worldwide trip, without a clue what lies in store for them.

The athletes arrive in Nyon, deep into the heart of Burkina Faso and home to about 300 Samo. It's harvest time and the lads are welcomed with some 'special water' that turns out to be a bit stronger than the stuff that comes out of the tap. In just six days, the festival will climax with the biggest Samo wrestling contest of the season, attracting competitors from all over the region. This is the contest our athletes will be taking part in and they are on the team sheet for Nyon.

Our six musclemen head into the heart of Brazil to live with the Wauja tribe and compete in a gruelling canoe race along the piranha-infested Batavi River in the Amazon.

Our fearless contestants are in Bhutan, preparing for one humdinger of a grudge match. The bows and arrows are out in an archery competition so fierce it has not been repeated in 40 years. The boys are split into two teams, living two miles apart in the villages of Kuenzangling and Kashi on either side of a steep valley.
Having been entered into a long-distance race over the frozen wastelands of Siberia, our athletes are dropped by helicopter 400 miles into the wilderness to live with half a dozen Koryak herders at reindeer camp.

The athletes' destination is a remote Sikaran kick-fighting training camp on the edge of the jungle. There they will be trained by the very best and will have just one week to perfect the lethal fighting moves and join a brotherhood of Sikaran fighters before taking on the black belts at a tournament of masters.

On the eighth leg of the worldwide competition, our athletes are crossing the Indian Ocean to their next destination: the Indonesian island of Sumbawa. Arriving in Pemlong village, our six athletes are met with their strangest challenge yet, the utterly insane sport of water-buffalo racing. They will be taking on the experts in a kind of animal-powered drag race, which the locals take very seriously.
